Art & Copy
In the interest of 'professional development' (Does this mean its tax deductable?) last night my friend and I dared a slightly chilly evening to watch the movie 'Art & Copy' at Rooftop Cinema in the city. Basically its a documentary about the advertising industry and power players behind it in post war years through to now. I found it to be a fairly inspiring film.
When the movie Helvetica played on SBS one night I got text messages from 4 separate people saying 'OMG you gotta see this movie'. (Can anyone say typography nerd) Unfortunately this movie for me was no Helvetica, it was more Dax.
As a 'creative' however I did find their passion inspirational, the power of a simple idea and risk taking gave me goosebumps as I wrapped my $5 blanket around me.
So designers, art directors, account managers go and see this film, if only to realise the importance of not squashing a good idea because its too risky or the logo isn't big enough... watch this and you will see why.
